Efforts made in education have brought about encouraging results. From a country with the illiteracy rate of 95% in 1945, by 2002 91% of the Vietnamese population can read and write.

Vietnam is an eager-learning nation. Under Vietnam’s feudal courts, academic examination and culture development enjoyed much attention. The Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, was established in 1076 to train talents.
